Los Angeles Mission Adopt a Meal Program

The LA Mission was one of the organizations that was close to Mr. Nelson’s heart and a source of his giving while he was alive. The foundation has chosen to continue that legacy of giving and recently presented a $10,000.00 gift to the LA Mission for their “Adopt a Meal” program. Thank you to the wonderful people at the LA Mission for the difference they are making every day. The Robert Nelson Foundation has provided a $5,000.00 grant to the Westside Food Bank. The grant is to assist in the operation of the mobile food pantries that the organization provides. The mobile pantries serve Culver City, Santa Monica, and West Los Angeles. The food reaches 72,000 households comprised of 153,000 individuals who live in neighborhoods from La Brea to the Ocean, and from Inglewood to Malibu that collectively serve almost 400 households weekly. The foundation is excited to support such a great effort to provide nutritious food to individuals and families who need it most.

The Robert Nelson Foundation was honored to give a $5,000.00 grant to the Hollywood Food Coalition’s Community Dinner program. Since 1987, the Community Dinner program has prepared and served multi-course meals for low income and unhoused residents seven nights/week. Today, we serve 230+ meals/night. The Community Dinner program is just one component of the Hollywood Food Coalition. The foundation is thankful to be connected to such a wonderful program and organization that helps those who need it most.

Health Communication Research Institute-Joshua’s House

The Robert Nelson Foundation is proud to have given a $10,000.00 grant to the Health Communication Research Institute-Joshua’s House project. Joshua’s House provides comfort care to terminally ill homeless men and women and access to quality hospice care. Joshua’s House Volunteer Hospice (JHVH) will provide comfort care to up to 15 terminally ill homeless people from the Sacramento area. It will be the first hospice for terminally ill homeless people in California on the West Coast and one of only a few in the country. The Robert Nelson Foundation supports this great project and is honored to participate with an organization with such a great vision.
